In this unit we learn about ancient organisms that were naturally preserved. These organisms call fossils were proof of ancient life as there traces, bones footsteps, and (for plant life) molds showed some of their ancient glory. Found in metamorphic and sedimentary rock, these fossils made a geological time line. Different era's and periods like Miocene, and Precambrian had different fossils as the organisms evolved. Trace fossils (fossils with a specific date) help the class "date" other fossils that were in the era of that fossil. Though in this unit we discussed fossils, we were also able to assemble a fossil. Not knowing what the fossil was supposed to look like we guessed on its structure. It was a blast to see how unlike our structure of the fossil was compared with the real thing. This unit was not a piece of cake but fossils proved to be interesting.
